“ Though it's a good mile walk out of the center, it's worth it for the value. We found this place 5 years ago and it's still going strong. Food here is all vegetarian with a slightly Taiwanese twist. For the almuerzos lunch plate, you get four different sides which are served in large portions on top of rice. There are several choices of juice. Menu of the day - juice, soup, plus 4 selections with rice - is $3. (If I remember correctly, in the "before times" you could choose your 4 things but now it's a set menu.) The tempura-battered fish, vegetables, or soy "meat" have always been tasty, and the steamed broccoli was really well done, too. The portions are quite large, so you could probably share with two people if you're not too hungry. There's plenty of seating indoor or outdoor, and SuperMaxi is not too far away if you need to run some errands! “ UPDATE (Feb 2025): After trying tofu from several other sources (including Supermaxi and a Japanese grocery in town), we can attest that the freshly made tofu (and gluten de trigo, elsewhere known as seitan) is top-notch and as good as any we've had in China and Hong Kong. It's also less expensive than the other sources we've tried. Love them. ORIGINAL (Feb 2024): Not much to add to the other 5 star comments. Open for lunch only. Packed all the time, a show of how good this place is. Equal mix of Cuencanans and gringos. Pleasant and hardworking staff. Great food. Sunny bathroom in back. ”
“ I should have tried more dishes but i love the vegano chaufan (chaulafan) too much here in Good Affinity. the wait time is only a few minutes. fair price for such a large plate. the place is cozy and quiet even though it's right by the trolley/Tranvia line. ”
“ My favorite lunch place!! I highly recommend giving it a try. $3 almuerzo comes with soup, large plate of rice, 4 vegetarian options, and a drink. Veggies aren’t over cooked. Love the (unsweetened) soy milk, spinach quiche, cabbage salad, and veggie balls. Plenty of indoor seating, but also some outdoors in the pretty garden. Wish I could go every day!! ”
“ Soup and Salad, try finding that in Cuenca, sure they both ususally come with a almuerzo, which means all the other stuff in an almuerzo. I enjoy a light lunch, and this place gets it right, they change the salads and soups every day or so, something different most visits. I better not mention the price or there will be none left for me. Great place. ”
